This technological advancement allows for significant improvements in the planning and surgical accuracy of shoulder replacement surgery. The shoulder replacement is planned prior to the surgery using a virtual 3D model created by a CT scan of the patient's shoulder.
Dr. Formaini is now performing a very promising, revolutionary procedure on patients with rotator cuff tears and rotator cuff disease. This new technology has allowed patients to recover much faster and with less pain. With a shorter rehabilitation period, patients can expect less time off of work or away from the activities they enjoy!
Minimally invasive procedure for chronic tendonitis!
Dr. Formaini worked with colleagues on a study which was just recently published in the peer-reviewed orthopedic journal, Orthopedics. This study evaluated the overall effectiveness and differences in outcomes between anatomic shoulder replacement and reverse shoulder replacement in patients greater than 80 years of age.
